What is osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint disease, is the most common form of arthritis. The risk of developing this disease increases with age, and it causes pain in the knee, hip, finger and lower back joints. The severity of the disease varies from person to person, as it is limited to some patients with mild symptoms, while for others it causes great difficulty and pain in continuing daily activities.
What are the causes of osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis is caused by wear and tear in the joints. In the normal state, joints are damaged on a daily basis, but the body repairs the damage on its own, so no symptoms appear. In patients with osteoarthritis, this damage is not completely repaired, which may lead to the loss of articular cartilage (the protective surface that allows joints to move smoothly), and the emergence of bony growths, with mild inflammation in the joint. Thus, these effects appear as the descriptive symptoms of the disease, which are pain, swelling, and stiffness.

risk factors
There are many causes of osteoarthritis, but there are specific risk factors, including:

Age – people over the age of 45 are more likely to develop this disease
Weight – Obesity increases the pressure placed on the joints, especially those that carry the majority of weight such as the hips and knees, and therefore this disease is more severe in people who are overweight
Joint injury – joints that have sustained an injury or surgery are more likely to develop disease, especially when the joint is overused before it is fully healed.
Gender – women are more likely to get the disease than men

How does Voltaren Gel help you get rid of pain?
ﭬWoltaren Gel is a medicine that helps you relieve joint pain caused by osteoarthritis. Both Voltaren Emulgel and Voltaren 12 Hours can somewhat help relieve pain caused by osteoarthritis in the knees or fingers. Both brands are available in a generously sized package with an easy-to-open lid, making them ideal for patients suffering from finger pain.
What is the mechanism of effect of Voltaren?
Voltaren Gel contains an active drug, Diclofenac, which is an NSAID. The gel is applied by massaging it gently on the affected area, where it is quickly absorbed by the skin to relieve pain, reduce inflammation and speed up the healing process.
In contrast to hot massage products that seem to mask the pain, Voltaren Gel penetrates through the skin into the underlying tissues to treat the cause of the pain.
It is strictly forbidden to use the preparation in case of any injury or skin disease, or to apply it to an open wound or under a closed dressing.
In addition to its light scent, Voltaren’s unique formula combines the properties of both a gel and a cream, to cool and soothe the skin.

Woltaren Gel

The Voltaren Gel range includes two products: Voltaren Emulgel and Voltaren 12 Hours. Both types relieve osteoarthritis pain, but each has its own unique properties that make it more suitable than the other for specific cases.

It can be used three to four times daily
Woltaren Gel 12 Hours

Do not use Voltaren Gel to treat osteoarthritis pain for more than three weeks unless instructed by your doctor. If you have another condition, or if you are taking other medications, be sure to check with your doctor to make sure you can take NSAIDs safely. Do not use two products that contain NSAIDs at the same time.
