Shoulder pain: many causes
The shoulder is one of the most flexible joints in the body and is used in our daily lives, so any shoulder pain may be considered particularly troublesome and more than the pain of any other joint. What are the possible causes of shoulder pain?

Causes of shoulder pain
Among the main causes of shoulder pain:

1- Health problems in the rotator cuff muscles
There are 4 small muscles responsible for the movement of the shoulder naturally, when these muscles are exposed to certain problems, a defect occurs and shoulder pain appears.
There are several types of rotator cuff muscle problems, the most important of which are:

Rotator cuff tear: This occurs when this muscle is torn apart from the shoulder bone.
Tendinitis: Shoulder tendinitis is inflammation of the tendons in the shoulder joint.
Cystic arthritis: is inflammation of the fluid sacs between the joints.
It is worth noting that shoulder pain caused by problems with the rotator cuff is often accompanied by the following symptoms:

The pain increases, especially at night, which makes the patient have trouble sleeping.

The pain is evident when trying to throw things.
2- frozen shoulder
Frozen shoulder is a common medical condition that causes the shoulder to become stiff and unable to move, with persistent pain or tenderness in the shoulder joint when trying to bend the arm back.

This condition may arise and develop from several conditions that affect the shoulders, such as tendinitis.

3- Calcific tendinitis
It is one of the causes of shoulder pain, where calcium deposits and accumulates on the tendons, causing the pain to appear gradually.

The pain is worse at night and when you try to do movements that require lifting your arms, such as putting on a shirt or blouse.

4- Osteoarthritis of the shoulder
One of the causes of shoulder pain is osteoarthritis in the shoulder, an uncommon disease that causes shoulder stiffness with pain that may extend deep into the shoulder or may be superficial.

An injury (maybe years ago) often triggers shoulder osteoarthritis, such as a previous neck or shoulder injury.

5- Shoulder dislocation
Shoulder dislocation usually occurs as a result of an injury or falling on the shoulder, resulting in partial or complete displacement of the joint from its place.

The shoulder pain resulting from this condition varies depending on the severity of the injury.

The good thing in this particular case, is that if the shoulder bone is returned to its place, the pain often stops completely, but you must leave a doctor to do this to avoid any complications.

6- Above the shoulder syndrome
This condition can arise after performing a series of movements that include raising the arms above the head, as in swimming, for example.

In this case, the shoulder tendons become defective, as the tendons may enter between the shoulder bones, which may cause severe pain, especially when trying to move the shoulder joint.

7- Shoulder instability
Although the shoulder is not supposed to be stable (since it is a joint and its function is to move), what we mean here is a different matter, as medical shoulder instability is a condition in which the shoulder joint has a kind of looseness and its parts are not overlapping properly.

This condition is more common among young people due to exercise. Excessive exercise in some sports for those with unsteady or loose shoulders may worsen the condition and cause a significant strain on the ligaments and tendons of the shoulder joint.

8- Broken collarbone
This type of fracture is one of the common types of fractures, the collar bone may break as a result of an accident or as a result of the wrong extension of the arm, and this type of shoulder pain causes should be subject to immediate medical attention.

9- Heart attack
Although this may sound strange, shoulder pain, especially if the pain is in the shoulder and left arm, may be one of the early signs of a heart attack.

It is worth noting that a heart attack has many other symptoms such as chest pain, a feeling of tightness in the chest, sweating and nausea.

Other causes of shoulder pain
A person may also suffer from shoulder pain as a result of infection with one of the following diseases and things:

tenosynovitis;
Hemorrhage in the subarachnoid region.
Ankylosing spondylitis.
Slipped disc.
Coronary artery disease.
Rheumatoid arthritis.
Ectopic pregnancy.
Lung or liver cancer.
